Food protein induced enterocolitis to fish in children
نویسندگان
چکیده
Methods Children admitted for evaluation of gastrointestinal symptoms after fish ingestion. Skin Prick Tets (SPT) with commercial extracts of codfish, hake, sole, tuna, herring, haddock were performed. Specific IgE to fish was also determined. Patch test with the same extracts for SPT were applied 48h and read at 2 and 24 hours after removing. Open Oral challenge (OOC) was performed when diagnosis was not clearly established with clinical history.

Food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome: 16-year experience.
OBJECTIVE The goal was to examine the demographic characteristics, causative foods, clinical features, treatments, and outcomes for children presenting with acute food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome. METHODS This was a retrospective study of children with food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome who presented to the Children's Hospital at Westmead (Sydney, Australia) over 16 years....
متن کاملRecovery from food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome caused by fish.
BACKGROUND The study describes the demographic features, culprit foods, clinical features and outcomes for children presenting with acute fish and/or shellfish food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) in four Italian paediatric allergy centres. METHODS A retrospective/prospective study was undertaken. All children diagnosed with fish or shellfish FPIES were enrolled. The diagnosis ...
متن کاملFood protein induced enterocolitis syndrome to fish: a report of 20 cases
Results Sixteen children (11 male) experienced 47 episodes of FPIES caused by fish. Mean age of onset was 12.3 months (SD 2.2). Among symptoms, vomiting was dominant (100%) while diarrhea was less frequently observed (9%). Only 5/47 cases (11%) were admitted to the emergency unit. None of these children presented with symptoms of hypovolemic shock. Mean time of symptom onset after ingestion was...
متن کاملA case of food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome to mushrooms challenging currently used diagnostic criteria
We present a case report of food protein-induced enter-ocolitis (FPIES) to mushrooms and highlight the caveats of diagnosing acute FPIES in clinical practice, particularly in older children and when solid foods are involved. The current clinical diagnostic criteria need to be revised based on the recent evidence to avoid under-diagnosis of FPIES. A case of food protein-induced enterocolitis syn...
متن کامل[Food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES)].
Food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) is an adverse food reaction involving the immune system. It is uncommon and seen almost exclusively in infants and young children. It is caused by an allergic reaction to one or more ingested foods which results in inflammation of the small and large intestine. Symptoms of profuse vomiting (and sometimes diarrhoea) most commonly occur 2-4 hour...
